Finding Strength and Purpose: Katie Bondy’s Journey Through Amputee Soccer

From overcoming personal challenges to proudly representing the U.S. at the inaugural Women’s Amputee Soccer World Cup, Katie Bondy’s story is one of resilience, growth, and purpose. As a member of the U.S. Women’s National Amputee Soccer Team, she has pushed past physical and emotional barriers to thrive on and off the field.

Her journey with the American Amputee Soccer Association (AASA) began with curiosity — and quickly turned into a calling. Training alongside other adaptive athletes showed her the strength in shared experience and the power of representation. For Katie, stepping onto the field in Colombia for the first-ever Women’s Amputee World Cup wasn’t just about competition. It was about visibility, pride, and making history.

Katie’s story is just the beginning. With more women joining the movement, and with AASA expanding its reach across the country, the future of amputee soccer is brighter than ever. And athletes like Katie are leading the way — with strength, spirit, and purpose.
