Washington, D.C. witnessed a major milestone for the beautiful game as the inaugural McCourt Global Invitational took over Georgetown University’s Shaw Field. It was a day defined by elite competition, community spirit, and a shared passion for growing the sport of amputee soccer in the United States.

The event brought together a powerhouse lineup, including Olympique de Marseille’s official amputee team, members of the U.S. Men’s National Amputee Soccer Team program, Arena FC, and the Colorado Rapids amputee soccer team. From the opening gala match to the final whistle, the energy on the pitch showcased the incredible athleticism and skill that define this sport.

Beyond the scores, the invitational served as a powerful platform to introduce new audiences to the game. Co-hosted by Georgetown’s Disability Cultural Center, the day celebrated disability excellence and fostered a culture of belonging, proving once again that soccer is a game for everyone.

Thank you to the players, coaches, and the local D.C. community for coming out to support these athletes and helping to inspire the next generation of players.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Le Treizième Homme, Georgetown University’s Disability Cultural Center, McCourt Global, and the Olympique de Marseille amputee soccer team for their essential roles in making this event a reality.
