AASA Partners with The Hartford and Move United to Bring $30,000 in Adaptive Equipment to Athletes

We are thrilled to announce a major milestone for the American Amputee Soccer Association! Thanks to a generous $30,000 grant from The Hartford, in partnership with Move United, AASA is expanding access to amputee soccer for youth and adults across the country.
This grant has enabled us to purchase vital adaptive sports equipment, including 85 sets of premium crutches, helping players in communities nationwide step onto the pitch with confidence.
Unexpected Surprises and Individual Milestones
The excitement didn't stop with the equipment grant. In a touching surprise presentation, The Hartford presented three incredible AASA athletes with custom-fit Sidestix forearm crutches along with Human Achievement Awards. The award includes dedicated grant funds to support each recipient's travel and training as they chase their athletic ambitions:
Ryan Brooks (8, Richmond, VA): Ryan and his family plan to use the grant money to travel and explore expanded adaptive sporting opportunities through Move United.
Kerven Lubin (24, Queens, NY): For Kerven, the funding helps remove financial hurdles by covering travel expenses to practices and competitions. "Their support helps remove some financial barriers and gives me the opportunity to continue pursuing my passion for the sport I love," shared Kerven.
Nicolas Ballew (34, Atlanta, GA): Nic highlighted the broader impact on his regional team as Atlanta joins the AmpCup in its inaugural year. "To be gifted these crutches in the inaugural year of Atlanta joining the AmpCup is motivation for all beginners around the country who are just getting into the sport. Amputee soccer brings out the best in players, and even though we compete against each other, the fact that we love on and off the pitch is the biggest gift."
