Watch Team USA Get Redemption Against Costa Rica at the Gold Cup

Updated: Jul 15

Team USA came into their second match of the 2025 Amputee Soccer Gold Cup with something to prove... and they delivered.

After drawing and narrowly losing to Costa Rica earlier this year, the U.S. Men's National Amputee Soccer Team stepped onto the field in San Juan de los Lagos, Mexico, focused and determined. This time, they walked away with a 2-0 victory and a sense of redemption.

Musabwa Nzirimwo continued his red-hot form, following up his opening hat trick with the first goal of the match. Then, team captain Nico Calabria sealed the win with a beautiful header off a perfectly placed kick-in from Jordan Obernesser.

The defense held strong, anchored by goalkeeper Ermin Omerovic, who earned a shutout in his first start. His composure and sharp saves helped keep Costa Rica off the scoreboard in a high-pressure game.

Now 2-0 in the group stage, the U.S. moves one step closer to qualifying for the 2026 Amputee World Cup. Next up El Salvador on Friday and host country Mexico on Saturday.

The road to the World Cup continues, and Team USA is locked in.
