AASA Mission:

The American Amputee Soccer Association has dual missions. One mission is to promote and develop the sport for the benefit of participants with limb differences. We look to grow the sport for juniors and adults and for women and men. We look to accomplish this through

outreach programs at the local levels to help interested players become introduced to the sport, maximize their proficiency, build self confidence, learn the power of teamwork, and build a strong social network. Our second mission is to select, develop, and train the elite amputee soccer athlete to represent the United States in international competition.


Position Description:

The Head Coach for the US Men’s National Amputee Soccer Team will be responsible for

organizing, leading and directing the coaching staff to oversee the development of players in

person at training camps and competitions and remotely while players are at their homes

throughout the year to allow the US to compete at the sport’s highest level. Under direction of

the President, the Head Coach will, in conjunction with the coaching staff, organize national

team camps and competitions including identification of locations for camps, invited athletes to camps and logistics. Transportation, lodging, and meals will be provided for AASA sanctioned training camps and competitions. A stipend may be available commensurate with experience.


Major Duties & Responsibilities:

● Full authority for the on-field product of the US Men’s National Amputee Soccer Team

● Development of soccer IQ with the team through monthly scheduled virtual team

meetings to discuss on-field approach

● Oversees assistant coaches and recommends staff for approval by the Board

● Designs, implements and monitors individualized player development plans for covering

technical, tactical, conditioning programs and physical assessments

● Collaborates with the sports medicine team

● Oversees mental preparation of athletes

● Tracks and identifies potential players

● Oversees the ordering of supplies and uniforms and other team gear

● Oversees the compilation of team records and stats

● Oversees video analysis of matches

● Sets the training camp calendar and leads all aspects of organization for the camps

● Sets a professional culture for the staff and players and holds all accountable

● Participates in planning and the execution of fundraising and other special functions

● Represents the team and organization when required for media or other requests

● Provides quarterly reports to the Board of Directors regarding development and

progress of the team

Minimum Qualifications:

● Ability to travel (domestic and international)

● Ability to work flexible hours including weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed

● 3 years of coaching experience

● USSF “D” Certification (or equivalent experience)

● Excellent interpersonal and strong leadership skills with a full understanding and

commitment to inclusivity and diversity

● Ability to work with and develop staff and players

● Excellent written and verbal communication

● A commitment to the mission and vision of the AASA

Preferred Qualifications:

● Bachelor’s degree or higher

● Experience working with people with amputation or limb difference

● Experience working with adaptive soccer

● Experience working with amputee soccer

● Knowledge of the rules of amputee soccer

● Futsal coaching experience

● USSF “C” or higher certification


Background check and SafeSport training is required for this position.
