A tribute to one of AASA's most dedicated and impactful contributors

There are people who show up, do their jobs, and move on. And then there are people like Paige Palazzolo, who pour themselves into everything they do, leaving an organization permanently better for their presence. At AASA, Paige was that person. As a head coach, goalkeeper coach, and a board member, she gave everything she had to this program and the people in it.

Where It Began: Goalkeeper Coach for the Men's Program

Paige's journey with AASA began on the men's side, where she served as goalkeeper coach. From the start, she brought a level of expertise, intensity, and genuine care for player development that set her apart. She understood the goalkeeper position deeply and had the ability to translate that knowledge into real, measurable improvement for the athletes she worked with.

Her work with the men's goalkeepers was a genuine difference maker. She challenged them, sharpened their technique, and elevated the standard of every training session. She was not there to simply run drills. She was there to develop players, and that is exactly what she did.

Paige attended the last World Cup with the men's team and was present at major tournaments throughout her time with the program. Whether on the training ground or on the sideline at the biggest stages, she was always present, always engaged, and always in the corner of the athletes she cared about.

Pioneer of the Women's Program

After establishing herself as an integral part of the men's program, Paige took on one of the most challenging and meaningful roles in AASA history: building the women's program from scratch. She did not inherit a team or a tradition. She created one.

As Head Coach of the women's team, Paige did not just recruit players and run practices. She created a culture. She established standards. She built something that had never existed before and made it look like it had always been there. Her vision, patience, and relentless work ethic made it possible for a new generation of women athletes to have a home in this organization.

The results speak for themselves. In the inaugural Women's World Cup, Paige led her team to a second place finish, a remarkable achievement for a program in its earliest stages. That silver medal was not just a trophy. It was proof of concept, a statement that the AASA women's program had arrived and was ready to compete at the highest level.

Leadership Off the Field

Paige's commitment to AASA never stopped at the final whistle. As a board member, she brought the same dedication to the boardroom that she brought to the training ground, helping guide the direction and growth of the entire organization. She understood AASA from the inside out, having lived it as a coach across both programs, and that perspective made her an invaluable voice at the table. She asked the right questions, pushed for the right decisions, and always kept the athletes and the mission front and center. AASA is a better organization because Paige was willing to serve at every level.

Thank You, Paige

It is rare to find someone who gives as fully and as selflessly as Paige Palazzolo gave to AASA. She served the men's program with distinction as goalkeeper coach, then turned around and built the women's program from nothing, leading them to a runner-up finish on the world stage. She served in every role with the same commitment and never once made it look like a burden.

The women's program she created will continue to grow. The goalkeepers she trained on the men's side will carry what she taught them. The decisions made at the board level will reflect her influence for years to come. That is the mark of someone who truly leaves a legacy.

AASA is better because of you, Paige. Thank you for your heart, your hustle, your leadership, and your love for this game. We cannot wait to see what you do next.

Once AASA, always AASA.
