Costa Rica to Host the 2026 Amputee Football World Cup in Liberia

The biggest stage in amputee soccer is heading to Central America.

The World Amputee Football Federation (WAFF) has officially announced that the 2026 Amputee Men’s World Cup will take place in Costa Rica, with the vibrant city of Liberia set to host teams, fans, and football’s fiercest competitors from July 31 to August 9, 2026.

This monumental tournament will feature 24 national teams representing five continents, all competing for the ultimate prize: the World Cup trophy. From veterans chasing redemption to rising stars making their debut, this event promises to be an unforgettable showcase of talent, resilience, and global unity.

The announcement follows the enormous success of the 2022 Amputee World Cup in Turkey, which drew thousands of passionate fans and brought worldwide attention to the sport. With that momentum, Costa Rica steps up as the next host, offering beautiful landscapes, rich culture, and a chance for the global amputee football community to write a new chapter in its growing legacy.

For players, this is more than a game. It’s about national pride, breaking barriers, and leaving everything on the field. For fans, it's a chance to witness elite-level competition where heart and hustle mean everything.

The U.S. team will compete in Mexico this July against, Mexico, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Haiti, Honduras, Guatemala, and Panama for a spot at the 2026 World Cup. Donations for the trip can be made through the team's official fundraising page.
